Medray MRI: uses newest technology in BC

MedRay Imaging’s upgraded MRI makes it the newest and most advanced system in the province.

Medray COO Randy Webster says that by upgrading its MRI to the GE Optima 360 Advance 1.5T platform, TriCity residents now have access to one of the best systems in Canada.

“MRI technology is like any computer technology: newer equals higher quality, and newer capabilities,” Webster adds. “Specifically, the system upgrade provides the Radiologist and Referring Physicians with enhanced imaging, including all the latest techniques for imaging brain injuries and other neurological diseases.”

Webster says that all areas being imaged now have additional enhancements including imaging of the spine, joints, abdomen, pelvis and breast. The new digital technology has improved the definition of the images produced and allows for clearer images for smaller soft tissue injuries.

“Patients will experience faster imaging in a more comfortable environment,” Webster says, “and we’ll be reducing our energy consumption by as much as 34 per cent because of the new technology.”

Since 2007, MedRay Imaging has offered TriCity residents an expedited MRI alternative to waiting up to two years in the hospital system. Because of the wait list, MedRay has built a number of community partners including the BC Lions, Coquitlam Express, Simon Fraser University Athletics, Douglas College Athletics and Canada Snowboard.
