Come Early
Please arrive 10-15 minutes early. Bring your provincial health card and any referral documents. Inform staff of any allergies or previous imaging reactions.
Health & Safety

Attendance
Please attend your appointment alone. For obstetric patients (pregnancy ultrasounds), one support person may attend the scan after all measurements are complete.

No. It is essential that you are not pregnant when HyCoSy is performed. Abstain from intercourse from day 1 of your period until after the procedure.
HyCoSy is very effective at determining if tubes are open (patent). However, it may not detect all types of tubal damage or blockage. If results are inconclusive, your fertility specialist may recommend additional testing.
No. HyCoSy is diagnostic only and does not affect fertility. Some studies suggest fertility may even temporarily improve in the months following HyCoSy due to the flushing action of the saline.
Detailed results and images are typically available within 24-48 hours. Your sonographer will also provide preliminary findings to discuss with your fertility specialist.
Inform us of all medications at booking. Most medications are fine to continue. The recommended pain management (Aleve and Tylenol) should be taken 2 hours before.
